Systemless in a Parallel World

Chapter 55 Obstacle

Zayn was now standing in the middle of the scattered remains of a few hundred Goblin Skeletons. His chest heaved up and down heavily and breathing through the black bandages was not easy either.

He was having a hard time but all of that was somehow acceptable since he got to devour a massive amount of soul particles. In fact, he was not yet done absorbing the soul particles since his heart couldn\'t easily anex thousands of soul particles at once.

The battle against the undead army was not yet concluded, which was also why Zayn ended up distributing a quarter of the soul particles from inside his body to the Herculean and Agile Human Spirit. They had done a great job and deserved to be well rewarded. And, the increase in strength would be a perfect reward as it would only help Zayn in the future.

Zayn was just about to reconsider joining the fight on the battlefield once again when he saw something that caused his pupils to dilate.

A hulking Human Skeleton, which was as tall as the Herculean Human Spirit, entered his field of vision. It was wearing a metal armor and was wielding a long Saber. Dark-red blood trickled down the long blade of the Saber which caused Zayn to frown deeply.

The saber was not like any other weapon but it was a straight blade with a slight curve near the tip. The blade design was great for both thrusting and cutting attacks, which combined versatility with strength in a single weapon.

Zayn analyzed the weapon, or he was trying to with his little knowledge of weapons which was how he figured that the curve near the tip of the blade made it possible to increase the weapon\'s agility and maneuverability, which turned it into an exceptional weapon as long as it was wielded by a skilled warrior.

He was not sure whether the Human Skeleton was a skilled warrior or not but Zayn could tell that his fights with Human Skeletons had always been a nuisance. It was even more problematic since the Human Skeleton wore a metal armor and that it was actually in possession of a Soulring!

The blood trickling down the Dao Saber, which was the name Zayn gave the Saber as it was single-edged, was also a sign that the Blessed to his right had been eliminated. He hoped that not all of the Blessed had been eliminated but the chances were slim.

\'At least it is missing one arm,\' Zayn told himself, trying to make it seem as if everything would be fine just because one of the Human Skeleton\'s arms was missing.

Looking at the Human Skeleton and how calmly it approached him, Zayn felt like twisting its neck. Unfortunately, that would hardly be of any use since the Undead would continue moving whether its neck was twisted or not.

Just when Zayn was about to change his stance, the Human Skeleton shot forward. It ignored the bones that were scattered all over the ground and crushed them all under its feet. The Human Skeleton marched forward and cleaved the Dao Saber down toward Zayn.

He was just about to jump to the side when the Herculean Human Spirit emerged in between them. It lifted the large drop-shaped shield to block the attack, just to realize that there was a huge difference between the quality of the Dao Saber\'s material and the forging process it went through and that of the large shield.

The Dao Saber cut deep into the wood of the drop-shaped shield before it was slowed down. However, the Human Skeleton didn\'t even think about ending its attack then. It kicked the shield with brute force, easily retracting the Dao Saber while simultaneously pushing the Herculean Human Spirit onto Zayn.

Zayn couldn\'t react fast enough and ended up buried underneath the large body of the Herculean Human Spirit. Panic struck him at this moment because he feared that the Human Skeleton would inch closer to them in order to finish both of them with a single blow.

Luckily, it was at this moment that he heard the sound of something colliding with the metal. Two different sounds rang out twice. The first sound was a loud crunching noise while the second noise was something Zayn couldn\'t quite put into a single category. It was somewhat soft but also loud.

Pushing the Herculean Human Spirit aside, Zayn got up from the ground, where he saw that the two Sparrow Spirits released fire needles in the direction of the Human Skeleton. The fire needles caused a soft but also loud noise that rang in his ear when they collided with the metal armor of the Human Skeleton.

The metal armor was not damaged by the fire needles but the area around the impact of the fire needles was heating up. As for the loud crunching noises, they were caused due to the spikes of the karambit knuckles.

The Agile Human Spirit had used some soul particles to reinforce the destructive power and endurance of the karambit knuckles\' spikes. They were strong enough to scratch the metal armor worn by the Human Skeleton when the Agile Human Spirit issued high-velocity punches.

It was only able to issue two high-velocity punches before the Human Skeleton had turned around. As a means of counterattack, the Human Skeleton tried to slash at the Agile Human Spirit but it only managed to hit the Spirit with the backside of the Dao Saber.

The Agile Human Spirit was hurled to the ground two meters further away when Zayn and the Herculean Human Spirit appeared in front of the Human Skeleton.

While the Herculean Human Spirit smashed the large iron mace against the Skeleton, Zayn aimed the silver iron shortsword at the joints of the armor that turned hot because of the Sparrow Spirit\'s fire needles.

A faint golden membrane shrouded the entire shortsword which consumed a tremendous amount of energy. However, Zayn couldn\'t be bothered about that right now.

Killing the Human Skeleton was the most important, and to achieve that its armor had to be removed first!

But he was taken by surprise when the Human Skeleton flung its head back and brought it downward to headbutt him.

It was such a sudden attack that his eyes widened in equal parts terror and shock.
