Fatal Shot

Chapter 218 - Killing Points

“So, Miss Haruko, you’ll be doing the mission with us? This is awesome!”

Big Pineapple’s attention was obviously focused on Haruko’s words, “will be your agent instructor,” as he revealed a wretched smile on his dark-skinned face upon hearing this.

The bespectacled teenage girl in a high school uniform who had not been speaking for a period of time suddenly stood up and spoke. “Miss Haruko, apologies, but I choose to withdraw from this mission!”

Hearing this, everyone looked toward her with shock. After all, even though this mission sounded dangerous and challenging, as a Hidden Mission, it 100 percent should have been more prestigious than staying in Dongsang City and fighting for missions with the remaining players.

She had actually chosen to forgo it straight away without even listening to the more detailed information of the mission—that was practically incomprehensible!

Haruko raised her head to look at her. “Miss Shizuka, are you certain?”

There was hesitation in the eyes of the bespectacled teenager, but she said, “Certain!”

“Well then, it is such a pity! However, your decision might be correct.” Haruko’s face was unchanged as she lowered her head and spoke to the four remaining people. “I will need to remind everyone about the fact that this ‘battle royale’ game is highly demanding on one’s personal ability! Also, there will be a certain restriction on the use of weaponry and equipment. As such, if anyone else would not like to participate in this mission, you can withdraw like Miss Shizuka!”

The Number 187 player dressed as a teenage girl had already stood up, pulled open the wooden sliding door, and walked out.

“Well then, is there anyone else who would like to withdraw from this mission?” asked Haruko, holding her black samurai sword, her hair pulled back into a high ponytail, as she looked expressionlessly at the remaining people.

The four people in the room looked around at one another, no one rising or speaking.

Feng Luo had even noticed that both Number 37, the white-collar young man, and Phoenix, the female Light Armor Warrior who was fiery red from head to toe, had sparks of conviction in their eyes. They were clearly confident in their own abilities.

Big Pineapple, on the other hand, had some noticeable hesitation on his face. He was, after all, a Heavy Armor Warrior—very unsuitable for such a killing game. However, he’d still completed the Hidden Mission from before and should have chosen an output-type profession. That didn’t mean he had no means of participating in such missions! Therefore, he remained seated.

“Very well!” Seeing that none of the four people had expressed an intent to withdraw, Haruko’s eyes showed satisfaction. Then she said, “I have already informed another chosen person to make up the number of people for the mission. Since the four of you have decided to participate in this battle royale game, let me explain the corresponding game rules.”

The night was tense as the rolling clouds in the sky occasionally blocked the moonlight. Beyond the Eastern Federal regions above the vast, endless sea, a few black, armed transport aircraft were traveling at about 3000 meters toward an island with a soft, low rumbling sound!

In the spacious cabin of one of the transport aircraft, Feng Luo stood in one corner, looking at the many players of various professions. Around 200 stood scattered in the surroundings, eyeing one another with looks of caution.

After waiting for the arrival of the supplementary fifth player, Haruko had led them to exit Dongsang City. They had entered a secret military airport after a car ride of over an hour long. After that, the six people had separated.

In this transport aircraft, Feng Luo was alone!

It’s not bad being alone, either!

After learning the details of the mission from Haruko, Feng Luo felt that acting alone right from the start would perhaps be more advantageous to his own operation.

But it seems as if everyone in here is a player. Weren’t there supposed to be NPC civilians?

Feng Luo was not disguising his identity now, and no one among the surrounding players had shot strange glances at him. Adding on to his deliberate low-profile, he did not stand out among the more than 100 players.

However, even though the players were cautious toward one another, with so many players in the same cabin, it was impossible to have complete silence between one another. Even though this mission required them to hunt and kill one another, it was actually just a large-scale group PK for the players, and the mission, after all, had not truly started yet. Thus, there were many players trying to be friendly, searching for someone to chat with.

“Hey, big brother, how did you get the chance to land this Hidden Mission?” A player who was clearly a Manipulator came up to Feng Luo. His eyes darted all around as he spoke.

Feng Luo looked at him and invented an excuse. “Not sure! I don’t know why, but a mission prompt appeared on my terminal. Then I just went to the military airport at the designated time and ended up here.”

He had already known from these people’s conversations that all these players had obtained the qualification for this “battle royale” game through all sorts of missions. But he definitely could not reveal the agent investigation mission to these normal players.

“F*ck. Big brother, your luck is too good. For this mission, I did over 10 rounds of prerequisite missions before I got the qualification!” The Manipulator player had a sorrowful tone, but his eyes clearly revealed a great deal of doubt.

He was probably whispering in his heart, Do you think I was born yesterday? Still, this fellow did not leave but continued to probe at Feng Luo. “Right, big brother, which profession are you?”

He asked because even though Feng Luo was now dressed in camouflage clothing, he had not taken out any main weapon, so it was impossible to determine which division of Gunner he was.

“Scout!” Feng Luo answered.

“Scout! F*ck, you’re really earning big! Unlike us Manipulators, with the default 300 killing points almost gone just after taking out our main weapon, the system’s ability restriction right at the start is far too big!”

Hearing Feng Luo’s profession, the Manipulator could not help but complain.

Feng Luo looked at this seemingly friendly Manipulator player—who was actually sugar-coating his words. He was changing the subject to “killing points.”

Killing Points!

Battle Royale Mission Rules: With each kill of a battle royale game participant, killing points can be earned.

Only by spending certain killing points will players be able to unlock the equipment, weapons, and locked skills. Usable default killing points for each player: 300 points!

These were the three latest mission prompts in the system log.

Feng Luo had already noticed that since he’d boarded the transport aircraft, all the tools and equipment in his backpack had been locked, unable to be taken out of the backpack. And the rings and emblems worn on him had all lost their bonus attributes and enhancement effects! It was the same in the case of skills—other than the three specializations and talents of his profession, all his active skills had been disabled.

The 300 points given by the system were not sufficient for unlocking many of these things. This means that in the beginning stage, the disparity between players’ equipment and skills would be largely offset.

Clearly, the competition in the beginning stage of this mission was not about equipment and skills but the players’ fundamental combat skills and ability to adapt on this island! No wonder Haruko had said before that there would be an unexpectedly huge restriction on the players’ weaponry and equipment.

But this is apparently a chance to cheat—deliberately given to me!

Feng Luo could not help but reveal a slight smile as he looked at his own attribute panel. Although his equipment enhancement had been lost, he far exceeded normal players’ basic attributes in an “equipment-naked” state due to his Evolution talent and Enhancement Potion!
